Singapore is one of the first countries in APAC and the world to introduce regulations to ensure designated Social Media Services take preventive measures to ensure online safety. In this presentation, the Singapore Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) will share the features of Singapore’s recently-passed online safety regulation and Code of Practice for Online Safety. IMDA will also share our considerations when developing the regulation to fit Singapore’s unique social and cultural context, our co-regulatory and multi-stakeholder approach as well as the lessons from our operationalization journey so far.
