More T&S professionals are moving between industry and government, where they utilize the same skill sets such as crafting content policy and operational guidelines, perform content assessments, and have to weigh complex product, policy, ops and legal trade-offs in their daily work. They also have to deal with the mental health challenges that come with working on harmful content. Ultimately, both sides seek the same goal – to create a safer online space for users. This lightning talk will discuss why regulators should be considered T&S professionals too and how greater collaboration and knowledge sharing between regulators and industry can lead to better online safety outcomes.
