Description

When OpenAI’s chatGPT entered the mainstream last year, it catalyzed conversations around the threats of AI, particularly GenAI. The need for regulation, diversity, and the reduction of biases have been thrown about as mitigation strategies against these threats. But barely anyone has asked, regulation for whom? What does that diversity look like? And what are the biases we are trying to reduce? This session will explore how GenAI’s risks are disproportionately distributed across regions, and why countries outside of the Global North-West have much more to lose when GenAI goes wrong.
